Mosque Visit this Sunday
Hikmah invites us to go and visit her mosque, after the service at St Bride’s on Sunday 27th May. Women need to bring a head scarf with them to wear when visiting the mosque.
Hikmah can only take women into the mosque. If any men would like to visit, please let Guy know so he can arrange this with Hikmah.
We’re working on setting up “Godly Play” at St Bride’s.
Godly play is based on the educational philosophy of Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori (1870-1952) opened her first school in 1907. She was a complex, strong, creative and very religious human being, with a deep interest in religious education.
‘Many who haven’t understood me think that I’m a sentimental romantic … I am a rigorous scientific investigator, not a literary idealist like Rousseau. I seek to discover the adult in the child, to see in her/him the true human spirit, the design of the Creator: the scientific and religious truth. It is to this end that I apply my method of study, which respects human nature. I don’t need to teach anything to children: it is they who, placed in a favourable environment, teach me, reveal to me spiritual secrets as long as their souls have not been deformed.’

It’s the anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore’s birth today - here’s some quotes to celebrate!
From the solemn gloom of the temple children run out to sit in the dust, God watches them play and forgets the priest.
Fundamentalism tries to keep truth safe in its hand with a grip that kills it.
Death is not extinguishing the light; it is only putting out the lamp because the dawn has come.
